Plant Per Proposal Initiative: Balancing Our Paper Footprint
Now in its fifth year, Scope Projects’ Plant Per Proposal Initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to sustainability — not just in how we build, but in how we think, plan, and operate.
We are passionate about creating workspaces that respect what’s already there and are designed with longevity, reuse, and environmental impact front of mind. But sustainability doesn’t stop on site. It extends to every part of our business — from how we source materials, to how we print, present, and communicate.
Preparing proposals and reviewing large-scale plans is a significant part of our daily operations. While our team strives to work digitally wherever possible, physical copies are often essential for accuracy, collaboration, and review across large working groups.
Recognising this, we asked ourselves how we could balance the environmental cost of paper usage with meaningful action. The result was our Plant Per Proposal Initiative — a commitment to plant one tree for every proposal we prepare.
In partnership with Trillion Trees, a Western Australian not-for-profit organisation dedicated to restoring degraded landscapes and fostering biodiversity, we’re proud to support reforestation efforts that help offset the environmental footprint of our operations. This year, Scope Projects will be planting 150 trees through our ongoing commitment to the initiative.
Fun fact: While exact calculations can vary, it’s estimated that a single tree (with around 13.7 metres of usable trunk) produces approximately 10,000 sheets of paper. That means one ream of paper — just 500 sheets — uses about 5% of a tree.
Through this initiative, we’re taking a small but tangible step towards a more sustainable future — one proposal, and one tree, at a time.
